A slice – Week One

By Andrea in a slice, resolutions

March’s resolution gave me an “Oh no!” and “A Ha!” feeling all at one.

{Oh no} – I can’t believe I have to take one intentional photo a day. In my week I go between three, maybe four places, and none of them bare repeated scrutiny by me, much less you. Realizing that I had let my days get to the point where I wasn’t doing anything worth photographing or documenting was a little bit sad.

{A ha} – The week has been peppered with moments of realization warranting extreme forehead slapping. Standing in my living room five minutes before I have to leave for work clutching my camera and realizing this was the only moment I was going to have today and that knowing that is half the battle. Taking those five minutes to be creative and calm and interested in one thing at a time is sometimes better than getting to work five minutes early.  Realizing that sometimes it doesn’t matter that the photo isn’t perfect, or the light isn’t quite right, but the moment in there and worth remembering; feels right. To feel these synapses in my brain firing, to remember why I love this so much, and to see the results progressing and improving day after day?

A ha indeed.

{You can see some more of this weeks photos here, including evidence that I have not indeed shaved (all) my head. (Mom) Readers, what creative projects are you working on this March?}

    Whoa, you are hardcore with the head shaving/gray hair deal! I just cried about it and then dyed my first few gray hairs last year. I commend you on your intensity when facing scary signs of aging. haha

    I feel like everything I want to improve upon takes…time. But unless you make the time, it’ll never time. Here’s to making time, squeezing in bits of life between work, family, all that.

    What a clever way to let creativity back into your life. The photos are beautiful and the hair is badass :)

    Beautiful photos. I’m glad you’re making ‘you’ time for pleasure-filled activities. Think of all the new subjects you’ll have to choose from while you’re here!!! eeeeeeee so excited!
    My creative project for March? Um, ‘creatively’ finding ways to prevent my (unshaven) head from imploding.
    :)

    Also, what kind of fruit is that?
